Home theaters on Long Island

Whether your style is contemporary or modern, traditional or rustic, we will work with you to create your perfect home entertainment venue.

Dedicated theater rooms are a specialty

We have designed and installed dozens of dedicated theater environments, each one built around what the client actually asked for rather than around a package.

It is a fully integrated service — consultation, drawing, design and completion, then follow-up and maintenance care once the room is in use. Lighting, acoustical treatments, seating and cabinetry are what turn a room with a screen in it into the favorite space in the house.

Design drawings

You see the room before anybody builds it

Treatment sized to the room, so the system can do its job

Seating

Tiered or level, laid out so every seat is a good one

What goes into the room

More than a screen and some speakers

Most of it is decided on paper, long before a single box is delivered.

  • Screen size and seating distance worked out together, not separately
  • Projector or display chosen for the room’s light and throw
  • Speaker layout and placement set before the walls close
  • Acoustical treatment for the surfaces that would otherwise ruin it
  • Seating laid out so nobody is looking at the back of a head
  • Scene lighting, dimmed and recalled on one button
  • Cabinetry and millwork so the equipment is not the feature
  • Wiring and ventilation for gear that has to live somewhere

A theater room is a construction job that happens to end with electronics.

The equipment matters far less than most people expect. A capable system in a room with bare drywall, a bad seating line and no lighting control will disappoint; a modest one in a room that was designed properly will not.

That is why the drawings come first — the room gets settled while it is still cheap to change, and the equipment is specified to suit it afterwards.

How the job runs

Consultation, drawings, build, aftercare

Fully integrated, from conception through to maintenance care.

Consultation

A free consultation to talk through the room and the equipment options — what you want it to do, who uses it, and what the budget is really for.

Drawings

Design drawings of the room: sightlines, seating, screen, speaker placement, lighting and cabinetry, so you can see it before it is built.

Completion

Built and installed by our own technicians, working alongside your builder or millworker where the room is part of a larger job.

Aftercare

Follow-up and maintenance care once you are living with it — the calibration tweak, the extra source, the thing the grandchildren changed.

Free consultation for new customers. Tell us which room you have in mind and we will come and look at it.

Common questions

Before you call

How big does the room need to be?

Smaller than people think. We have built rooms from 500 square feet up to 2,000, and the small ones are often the more satisfying because everything is within arm’s reach of a good seat. What matters is the shape and the sightlines, not the square footage.

Can you work with my builder or architect?

Routinely, and the earlier the better. If we are in before the walls close we can get the wiring, speaker placement, ventilation and sightlines right for nothing. Coming in afterwards means working around decisions already made.

Do I need a projector, or will a big screen do?

It depends on the room and how dark you can make it. A flat panel is often the better answer in a room with daylight; a projector wins in a dedicated space. We will tell you which way the room points rather than selling you the bigger item.

What does a theater room cost?

It ranges enormously, because a media room using an existing space and a purpose-built screening room are different projects. The consultation and drawings are where that gets pinned down, and you get a written quote before anything is ordered.

Can the room tie into the rest of the house?

Yes — lighting, shades, climate and audio elsewhere in the house can all run from the same system, so one button does the whole room. See automation systems.

What happens after it is finished?

We stay involved. Follow-up and maintenance care is part of the service, so calibration, additions and the occasional fault are handled by the people who built it.
