Services Commercial fire alarms

Commercial fire alarms

Protecting lives and property. Your business is as unique as you are, and we know your most valuable asset is your people.

A full service commercial fire alarm company

We collaborate with you to understand the needs of your business and your commercial property, then develop a solution built around them rather than around a standard package.

We work hand-in-hand with owners, architects and general contractors, so the fire protection system is integrated with the facility quickly and efficiently, with as little disruption to your business as possible. Once the system is in, we provide an overview to train your team on it.

Codes and compliance

Up to date on the codes that apply to you

Some fire alarm companies are not familiar with the newer codes and laws. We are, and we have been doing this on Long Island for over 20 years.

  • Existing and new codes and laws for fire alarm and carbon monoxide systems
  • Municipal code requirements for your jurisdiction
  • Insurance requirements, which are not always the same as code
  • Occupancy changes that alter what the building needs
  • Sign-off with the authority having jurisdiction
  • Scheduled inspection so certification does not lapse
  • Your budget, which is a requirement like any other

We consider your business fire safety needs our top priority, and we pride ourselves on being well-versed and up to date on the codes.

That matters more than it sounds. A system designed to a superseded standard passes nothing, and the cost of putting it right afterwards lands on the owner rather than on whoever installed it.

We design, install, inspect and monitor the systems we service, and comply with all existing and new insurance, regulations and municipal codes.

Working around you

Fitted with the business still running

We are happy to work after hours so trading is not affected.

With your team

Owners, architects, general contractors and facilities staff — we coordinate rather than turn up and start drilling.

Phased where needed

Floor by floor or unit by unit on an occupied building, so no part of the site is ever left unprotected.

Out of hours

Evenings and weekends where a working floor cannot have devices offline during business hours.

Handover training

An overview for your team once the system is in, so somebody on site knows what the panel is telling them.

Common questions

Before you call

Can you take over a system somebody else installed?

Usually. We inspect what is there, tell you what condition it is in and what it would take to bring it up to current code, and take over inspection and monitoring from there. You are not obliged to rip out a sound system to change who services it.

How often does a commercial system need inspecting?

It depends on the system, the occupancy and your jurisdiction and insurer. We set the schedule at handover and hold it, so certification does not quietly lapse and leave you exposed at the worst moment.

Will this shut the building down while you work?

No. Occupied buildings get phased so no area is left unprotected, and we are happy to work evenings and weekends where daytime work would disrupt trading.

Do you handle carbon monoxide as well?

Yes, and it is part of the same body of code we keep current on. CO requirements have changed for a number of occupancy types, and it is a common thing to find missing on an older system.

Can it tie into cameras and access control?

Yes. Access control in particular has to be tied in, so doors on escape routes release on alarm — that is a code requirement rather than a convenience.

What about monitoring?

Central station fire and security monitoring, around the clock, on the systems we service. One company for design, install, inspection and monitoring means nobody can point at anybody else.
